Hitachi Pays $19m Penalty for Violating Foreign Bribery Law

Hitachi agreed to pay $19 million to settle charges with the SEC that it violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) when it inaccurately recorded improper payments to South Africa’s ruling political party in connection with contracts to build two multi-billion dollar power plants.
