FTC: Parents Beware of Organic Claims

The FTC filed a lawsuit against Moonlight Slumber for falsely advertising its baby mattresses, Starlight Simplicity and Little Star mattresses, as "organic," "a safe, organic alternative to traditional crib mattresses" "BabySafe Natural Materials" and "eco-friendly plant-based" materials. The FTC found that the mattresses were substantially made up of materials that were not organic and the cores and fire barriers contained no organic content at all. The FTC has submitted a proposed order which would ban the company from making misrepresentations about its products without support.
