NY AG Report of Mislabeled Fish Provokes Lawsuit

The New York Attorney General's Office published a report following its investigation of various supermarkets and DNA testing of seafood that revealed rampant mislabeling in New York. Some chain stores like Food Bizarre, Foodtown and Stew Leonard's were caught mislabeling the majority of their fish as more premium varieties. For example, certain fish were labeled as Red Snapper, Sole or Wild Caught Salmon, when they were not in order to sell them at higher prices to unsuspecting customers. A class action has been filed against Stew Leonard regarding this. Click here to read the lawsuit and AG report. Andersen Sleater Sianni's attorneys represent consumers who have been defrauded.
