The FTC brought a case against a Bollman Hat Company for falsely stating that its hats and other products were “Made in USA” and “American Made Matters,” “Choose American,” and “Made in USA since 1868.” The FTC found that more than 70 percent of their hat styles are wholly imported as finished products or contain significant imported content. The company agreed to settle the action and to stop making false claims that the hats and other products it sells are all or virtually all made in the United States.
